The Promise of New Life!
Spring has finally sprung in Kandern, Germany! The flowers are blooming, the birds have returned, and it’s warm! This new life we experience in spring is such a beautiful picture of what Christ has done for us. When we were dead in our sins, He died for us, and through Him, we have new life. It’s a miracle when you really think about it. I was dead, but now I’m not.
I’m often tempted to think that nothing is happening in our garden – that it’s just a pile of dirt. But then, slowly I see life – green shoots emerging from the ground! I’m reminded that even though we can’t see what’s happening beneath the dirt, that doesn’t mean growth isn’t taking place.
That is so much like the Christian life. Just like plants take time to grow, transformation doesn’t happen overnight. We see dirt and a whole lot of mess – but that’s where new life is being cultivated.
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. II Corinthians 5:17
